Be still, and know that I am God
Category Archives: Exalt
I find it interesting that we are to praise God in all that we do, yet, too few of us truly know what praise really is when it come to giving God praise.
We are all too willing to offer praise to others when we think it will make us look good. We are all too willing to accept praise when it really isn’t merited, and we are all too eager to be elevated and seek praise for anything and everything that we do.
It is sad that all too often we fail to praise the One who made us, the One who gave us grace and mercy through His Son, Jesus, and the One who has always been the only one worthy of praise.
It is easy to forget that our praise is exalting to God. Praise lifts up. It honors. It raises in rank. In fact, the word exalt is defined as praise. Exaltation means to glorify. It means to elevate.
How can we, as the Body of Christ, make glorifying God our priority when we seem to be stuck in our daily lives simply trying to get by? How can we use the daily events to glorify the one who is worthy of all glory?
How can we exalt God?
I realize that this is just one more in the millions of blogs that are available on the Internet. Each blog is basically designed to appeal to people with similar interests as the writer. It is my prayer that God will use this blog to appeal to people who have an interest in what He has written – His Word. I also pray that it will find those who are seeking the truth and that it will allow them to find that truth in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son.
In this day and time, our world does anything and everything it can to keep us from God and His Word. Our hectic lives keep us from spending time within God’s Word. In many instances, even our church experiences are tightly fit in to a schedule that makes multi-tasking look like a simple life. This is an attack from the enemy, for we are told:
Be still, and know that I am God; (Psalm 46:10a (NIV))
Satan knows that if he can keep us so busy that we do not have time to spend in God’s presence, then his deceptive battle is almost won. How can we accept God’s grace, truth and love if we are kept from learning about it? How can we embrace God as our Father if we never take the time to sit upon our Father’s knee and feel His love?
Every relationship that we have ever had that lasted for any length of time was a direct result of taking the time to spend with the other person. We took the time to learn all about them; what they like and dislike; what they love and what they would rather stay away from. A saving relationship with God requires exactly the same thing. We must take the time to embrace God in all of His majesty, grace, mercy and wisdom. He has already offered to embrace each of us. All that we have to do is return that embrace. He offered His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross so that we could return that embrace.
This blog, the daily devotionals and other resources available through Daily Living Ministries, Inc. are intended to offer any and every opportunity to be still in God’s presence. Five minutes here and five minutes there. A computer wallpaper or a custom screensaver that reminds you of God’s grace and mercy. Study materials that are written from today’s perspective.
